to lose weight walking?
If you’ve tried
it but not succeeded, there are probably some very good reasons why you
didn’t.
In this article
I’m going explain the most common reasons why many people don’t manage
to lose weight walking.
#1 No
Direction
Perhaps the
biggest problem with using walking to lose weight is the lack of any real direction and
purpose. Without
a goal or target to aim for it is very difficult to achieve
anything. You need to know two main things when
you start any weight loss program.
Firstly you need
to know what you want to
achieve and
secondly how you’re going to go about making it
happen. Just casually saying to yourself, ‘I think
I’ll go out a couple of times this week if I get chance’ is not a plan of
action.
To effectively
lose weight walking you need to write down your plan...
the days you’ll
go out and walk, how far or for how long etc. Get it down on paper. Studies show that anything that
is written down becomes a much more definite goal to achieve in our minds.
#2 Lack of
Consistency
Another real
problem for most people is a lack of
consistency. Not being able to get out regularly to do the
exercise is a sure fire way to scupper your chances of ever losing weight using
walking.
Don’t feel that you have to do an hour at a
time. Little and often is the best
approach.
Let’s say for
example that you have 20 minutes spare whilst your dinner is cooking, why not go out then. Use one
of the power walking levels to increase the effort it takes you and
you’ll probably end up burning as many calories as you would walking for
longer.
#3 The Same Old
Thing
Finally one of
the more probable reasons you’ve never been able to lose weight walking before is because you just
did the same old thing, over and over again.
Our
body’s need a reason to change, whether that be to
lose weight or to just become a little fitter. If we don’t ask anything of ourselves
then we will stay the same shape and size
forever. Once you start to shake things up a little,
you’ll be surprised at the changes you’ll begin to see.
So if you’d
really like to lose weight walking instead of hitting the gym, running or any other
type of exercise then you need to make sure you avoid making these 3 common
mistakes.
Walking does work
if done properly and a walking program is a great idea as it will give you direction,
motivation and guidance towards achieving your goals.
